Ms. Sminu Jindal, M.B.A., joined the family business as a trainee at a young age. As the Managing Director of Jindal SAW Ltd. her contribution to the growth of the organization has been phenomenal. Corporate Social Responsibility is ingrained in Ms. Jindal's corporate DNA, and Svayam is an example of her vision.

Breaking gender stereotypes, her exemplary business acumen is instrumental in putting Jindal SAW on an unprecedented growth trajectory.

Sminu Jindal is the first lady entrant in the country to do her gender proud by breaking the glass ceiling in the Steel, Oil and Gas sector in India. Having been appointed as the Managing Director of Jindal SAW Ltd., a part of the fourth largest industrial house in India- the OP Jindal Group, Sminu Jindal's contribution to the growth of the organization has been phenomenal.

An alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce, Sminu Jindal went on to pursue MBA from Fore School of Management, with specialization in Finance. Her outstanding academic performance won her a Silver Medal.

Later on, Institute of Marketing and Management bestowed upon her the Award for Excellence as the top woman entrepreneur.

Ms. Jindal is a completely hands on person and she joined the family business at the fag end of her teens in Swastik Foils, a unit of Jindal SAW Ltd. To her credit, she turned around a sick unit into a profitable venture in the very first year of joining. She then trained her sights on Jindal SAW Ltd. in 1997. Soon she was at the helm of affairs as the MD where her acute business acumen positioned the company as a global player bagging major international contracts, and rolled out business strategies, which resulted in higher profitability.

She initiated environment protection steps like effluent treatment plants and environment friendly processes much before the government regulatory authorities. Jindal SAW Ltd. was one of the very first companies to be awarded all environmental clearances. This is not all. ISO 9002,14001,18001 certification awarded bespeak of her continued commitment to the welfare, safety and security of her employees as well as the custodian of best business practices.

Thinking for less privileged is intrinsic to Ms. Jindal's nature. Having experienced the trials & tribulations of people with reduced mobility due to absence of enabling built environment around them, she founded an initiative called 'Svayam' that has been articulating the need of creating an inclusive society that provides equitable access to public infrastructure, resources and opportunities for all including the elderly and persons with disabilities.

She brought about profound and fundamental change in the mindset of society about the abilities and economic contribution of the most marginalised segments such as persons with disabilities in the nation's growth story.

More than a decade to go and with a successful track record, he was a catalyst to lead a transformation resulting in corporate excellence conforming to high performance benchmarks, within a defined timeframe.

He is extremely passionate and brings high energy levels into play in all aspects of corporate planning and execution. he has built, motivated and led large multifunctional teams delivering quality results in a harmonious work environment, creating value for the shareholders and delight for other stakeholders in the business. Maintaining high business ethics and compliance with the governance framework has always been of paramount importance.

His experience of working across core infrastructure, commodity, service and the financial sectors with large Indian business houses, top multinationals and financial institutions, brings a well-rounded and holistic perspective. This serves as the contextual backdrop to collaborate and develop a 'shared vision', meticulously detailing it down to the critical aspects. Having enrolled the team on the path ahead, his strength lies in taking a step-by-step approach to actualize the dream. He has realized the benefits of pursuing a collective approach of planning and execution and following a dynamic business model of rigorous execution, continuous evaluation and course corrections, always keeping the larger goal in sight.

His basic training in Corporate Finance entails the gamut of corporate planning, mergers & acquisitions, business & corporate restructuring, resource mobilization from Indian and International sources, capital markets, investor relations, commercial, secretarial, legal and other functions. Hard work and support from all quarters has helped him rise through the junior and middle management relatively quickly and has been a part of the senior management team for more than a decade and a half. As a part of the senior management, he has overseen all line and support functions, including human resources, industrial relations, operations, marketing, business development, information technology, credit control and quality assurance. He has also led a joint venture with an Indian and International partner.

He emphasizes on developing deep understanding of the fundamentals of business with a focus on honing communication and negotiation skills. Most of his work has been in the Indian business environment with strong international linkages, which has given him an insight into the liberalized Indian business environment on a global canvas.

His academic background of Masters in Physics and Masters in Business Management has given him a strong foundation for conceptual clarity, analytical ability, and quantitative and qualitative appreciation of multiple variables in business.

He believes that harmony between 'the micro and the macro' and integrity of purpose supported by high energy can lead to a paradigm shift and business transformation which he has practiced with success.
